Weather officials have extended the severe thunderstorm warning for Harford County.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — The severe thunderstorm warning has expired in Harford County as of 7:15 p.m. But weather officials are cautioning boaters that they should be careful.
Isolated thunderstorms are still possible Thursday evening, along with gusty winds on the water.
Mariners on the Chesapeake Bay and other Maryland waters are encouraged to be mindful and tune into weather radio for reports.

PREVIOUS REPORT (The warning expired as of 7:15 p.m.): The National Weather Service has extended the severe thunderstorm warning for northern Harford County. Hail the size of ping-pong balls has been reported along with the storm, weather officials say.

A severe thunderstorm was near Delta, Pennsylvania, at 6:36 p.m., according to weather radar. The storm was 15 miles northwest of Aberdeen and was moving east at 30 mph, officials said.
There are 60 mph wind gusts and hail the size of ping-pong balls, according to the weather service.
Affected areas include Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Bel Air North, Jarrettsville, Pylesville, Darlington, Cardiff, Churchville, Carsins, Scarboro, Chrome Hill, Street, Rocks, Hickory and Whiteford, the weather service warns.
Damaging wind gusts may cause trees and branches to fall, which could injure people outside and damage homes and vehicles. Roads may be blocked by downed trees, unsecured objects could go flying and power outages are possible.
"Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds," the National Weather Service advised. "People outside should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay away from windows."

The severe thunderstorm warning took effect at 5:45 p.m. and continues until 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, for north Harford County.
Affected areas include Havre de Grace, Pylesville, Darlington, Cardiff, Norrisville, Street, Rocks, Scarboro and Whiteford, according to the National Weather Service.
"Remain alert for a possible tornado!" weather officials said in a statement with the severe thunderstorm warning. "Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure."
At 5:45 p.m., radar showed the storm was near York Township, Pennsylvania, and was moving east at 25 mph from Codorus and Spry, Pennsylvania.

To stay safe, weather officials advise going inside and if there are large trees around, moving to a room on the interior of the space on the lowest floor. Drivers should not pass under trees and wooded areas until the storm threat has passed.
