Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued In Harford County
A severe thunderstorm that could bring hail and strong winds to Harford County has prompted a warning from the National Weather Service.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Harford County Thursday afternoon. The National Weather Service issued the warning after detecting a severe thunderstorm in the area at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1. It is in effect until 4:45 p.m.
At 4 p.m., weather officials said a severe thunderstorm was detected 15 miles northwest of Havre de Grace and was moving southeast at 10 mph.
Radar indicated there may be 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, according to the warning.

These locations may be impacted, according to the warning: Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Bel Air South, Bel Air North, Pylesville, Darlington, Cardiff, Churchville, Carsins, Scarboro, Bynum, Harford Furnace, Street, Hickory and Whiteford.
During the severe thunderstorm warning period, people should go inside to stay safe and move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Do not drive underneath wooded areas until the threat has passed, as trees and branches may fall. Roads may become blocked by downed trees, and localized power outages are possible, according to the warning.
