Storm Damage Reported In Havre de Grace

Preliminary storm damage reports are in, and the National Weather Service says the strong winds affected Havre de Grace on Monday.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — During the severe weather that blew through Maryland Monday, Havre de Grace was among those reporting impacts from the storm. It was one of two locations in Harford County that had storm damage due to wind, based on preliminary data submitted to the National Weather Service.

Large tree limbs had snapped on Union Avenue, according to a call placed to the Harford County 911 Center around 3:10 a.m. on Monday, April 15. The caller said that the 300 block of South Union Avenue was obstructed because of the limbs, the National Weather Service reported.

A barn also blew over in the 1300 block of McDermott Road around 2:11 a.m. in Pylesville, officials reported Monday.

Harford County and more than half of the jurisdictions across the state were under a wind advisory on Monday calling for wind gusts up to 50 mph.

The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF2 tornado with wind speeds up to 120 mph hit Sussex County, Delaware, at 3:38 a.m. on Monday. It traveled 6.2 miles, and along its path it snapped up trees, destroyed a barn and damaged roofs. That is a little more than 100 miles away, southeast of Havre de Grace.
