Torch Run In Havre de Grace 2019 Planned
The Havre de Grace Police Department will raise awareness and funds for the Maryland Special Olympics.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Havre de Grace Police Department guarded the flame of hope overnight after receiving the symbolic torch from law enforcement officers in Cecil County. To deliver the torch, officers from Cecil County ran more than 12 miles.
"Today we received the flame of hope from our law enforcement brothers and sisters in Cecil County," the Havre de Grace Police Department said in a statement on Monday, June 3. "We will guard the Law Enforcement Torch until we use it tomorrow for the Harford County Torch Run."
From Havre de Grace, police will run the torch 19 miles to the Baltimore County line. Ultimately, the torch will be taken to the Special Olympics Summer Games at Towson University.

Funds raised by the torch run will go toward equipment and programs for the Special Olympics Maryland, which is the largest sports program in Maryland and costs nothing for participants.
"If you see us running tomorrow, please wave and say hi!" Havre de Grace police said.

The torch run will likely course along US 40.
