What's Open, What's Closed In HdG On New Year's Day 2020

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — While New Year's Day is often a day to recover from the previous night's festivities, if you do plan to head out, be aware the holiday may affect the hours of area government offices, schools, public transportation and more.

We have your roundup of what's open and what's closed in Havre de Grace this New Year's Day.

City of Havre de Grace: All municipal offices are closed New Year's Day.

Harford County Government: All offices are closed New Year's Day.

Harford County Circuit and District Courts: Closed New Year's Day.

Maryland State Courts: All state courts are closed Jan. 1.

Post Offices: Closed Jan. 1. No mail will be delivered.

Harford County Public Schools: Schools are closed Dec. 23-Jan. 1 for winter break. School resumes Thursday.

Harford County Public Library: All locations will be closed Jan. 1.

Harford Community College: The campus and all facilities are closed Dec. 21-Jan. 1 for winter break. Classes resume Thursday.

Harford Transit LINK: Modified bus service will end at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 31. Services will be closed New Year's Day.

Parking: All meters are free on town-recognized holidays.

Trash/Recycling: There will be no pickup in HdG New Year's Day. All collections following the holiday will be one day later than scheduled. If you contract with private provider, confirm schedule changes with the provider.

Landfills/Recycling Centers: The Harford Waste Disposal Center, Tollgate Yard trim drop-off facility and the administrative office will be closed Jan. 1.

Banks: Closed Jan. 1.

Movie Theaters: Most area movie theaters will be open New Year's Day. We would encourage calling your theater of choice to confirm hours.

Grocery Stores: Area grocery stores hours are as follows —

• Weis Markets: All stores will close at 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve. All pharmacies in Maryland and Virginia will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve. • Safeway: Open regular store hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
• Food Lion: Most stores are open regular hours on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
• Aldi: New Year's Eve: All stores will open with limited hours (use the store locator for hours at your location). New Year's Day, Jan. 1: Closed.
• CVS: Most stores open normal hours on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day; pharmacy hours may be shorter on Jan. 1.
• Walmart: Most stores open regular hours on both Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
