Wind Warnings Issued For Hatem And Tydings Bridges

BREAKING: Drivers should take extra care Tuesday when crossing two bridges between Harford and Cecil counties.

Drivers crossing between Harford and Cecil counties over the Susquehanna River are advised to be extra careful on Tuesday. Snow, freezing rain and sleet are in the forecast in addition to strong wind gusts.

The Hatem and Tydings bridges are under wind warnings Tuesday morning. The Maryland Transportation Authority announced the warnings as of 8:15 a.m.

Wind warnings are triggered by 30 to 39 mph winds.

During wind warnings, drivers of the following vehicles should use extra caution while crossing the bridge: house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles, vehicles with roof-mount racks containing cargo or any other vehicle that may be subject to high winds.

Drivers should increase following distance, slow down and keep both hands on the wheel if possible.

According to the National Weather Service, ice pellets are mixing with rain, which will become heavier as the morning continues.

Havre de Grace is under a winter weather advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain until 6 p.m.

Perryville is under a winter storm warning from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 2 a.m. Thursday, with the National Weather Service calling for 8 to 13 inches of snow during that time.
