Wood-Burning Stove Caused Havre de Grace House Fire: Officials
Investigators said the homeowner discovered the fire by security camera.
HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A fire near Havre de Grace caused $20,000 in damage over the weekend, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The owner of the home in the 4400 block of Webster Lapidum Road discovered the blaze around 6:15 p.m. Saturday by seeing it on security camera, according to the fire marshal.
About 15 firefighters responded from the Level Volunteer Fire Company and controlled the fire in 10 minutes, officials reported.

Nobody was injured, according to the fire marshal, who said the fire began in the basement, where combustible items had been stored near an operating wood-burning stove.
