York Road Restoration Begins After Water Main Repaired: Officials
Water service was restored to most residents impacted by the water main break, which officials said severely damaged York Road.

COCKEYSVILLE, MD — As work continues on a broken water main on York Road, Baltimore County public works officials say residents have a place to fill up locally.
An unattended hose will be available on the parking lot side of Baltimore County Fire Station #17—the Texas station at 9835 York Road—for those experiencing water outages.
Authorities said water was expected to be restored to the Loveton Circle area by Wednesday morning but water would remain available at the firehouse.

Water service was restored to those in Mays Chapel by 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, according to public works personnel.
Previously, public works crews took bottled water to residents at the Broadmead retirement home after the water main break caused outages in the area Monday.

The problems began when a 20-inch water main on York Road broke north of Hunt Valley Towne Centre, city officials reported Monday afternoon.
York Road was closed between McCormick and Phoenix roads due to the utility issue.
On Wednesday, crews will start fixing the road, which was significantly damaged when the water main broke.
The road may be closed for days because it was severely damaged, according to the State Highway Administration.
Between Monday and Tuesday, the water was shut off overnight so that crews could isolate a gas main before repairing the water line.
Those north of Shawan Road experienced disruptions in their water service. Residents from other parts of northern Baltimore County also reported water outages and low water pressure; according to city officials, the water levels in holding tanks in Sparks and Mays Chapel fell because of the break.
To remedy the situation, public works crews refilled the Mays Chapel reservoir with water pumped from Towson; the water tower in Sparks would require more time to refill, authorities said Tuesday afternoon.
Public works officials advised residents to limit their use of appliances or tasks requiring water and to run water until it is clear once service is restored.
Those with questions about the repairs may contact the Baltimore City Water Department at 410-396-5352.
