The Arc Baltimore Holds 18th Annual Art in the Round

October 18 event features artwork by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Arc Baltimore will hold its 18th Annual Art in the Round – an art exhibit and auction showcasing the talent and artistry of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities – on Friday, October 18, 7-10:30 p.m., at the Grand Lodge of Maryland (304 International Circle, Hunt Valley, MD).

This year’s Art in the Round will feature 80 pieces of art, including curated selections by some of the Baltimore area’s top art aficionados. All Art in the Round artwork is chosen by a selection committee of art enthusiasts from more than 200 pieces submitted.

Art in the Round attendees will have special access to the more than 60 artists represented, all of whom will be on-site to discuss the inspiration behind their artwork.

In addition, attendees can bid (and mobile bid) on the artwork, enjoy an open bar featuring a specialty drink offering and heavy hors d’oeuvres, and network with an expected crowd of more than 400 guests.

“Art in the Round has become The Arc Baltimore’s most anticipated annual event and one of our top fund raisers,” says the organization’s Executive Director, Kathleen Durkin. “Each year, Art in the Round has attracted more artists, more artwork, and more attendees, so I’m very confident our 18th annual event will be our biggest Art in the Round ever.”

According to Durkin, proceeds from Art in the Round help The Arc Baltimore to support art classes, workshops, and other mission-related programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Featured artists receive 60 percent of the winning bid for each piece of art sold. In addition, The Arc Baltimore presents a financial award to the artist whose work is chosen to be used for next year’s Art in the Round promotional poster.

Tickets for Art in the Round are $85 per person and $800 for a reserved table of 10. Tickets can be purchased online at www.thearcbaltimore.org. For more information, contact Lauren Seabolt at 410-296-2272, ext. 5220, or lseabolt@thearcbaltimore.org.
