The Arc Baltimore Honors Five Employees

Organization recognizes outstanding work and dedication in helping individuals with developmental disabilities.

Five employees of The Arc Baltimore recently received awards from the organization for their outstanding work.

The five award recipients are:

  • Terri Spurrier, a resident of Reisterstown who was honored with the Stephen H. Morgan Award for Career Excellence for her 44-year career at The Arc Baltimore;
  • Towson resident Andrea Brown, who received The Arc Baltimore’s Award for Excellence in Direct Support for her work as an activity specialist;
  • Nancy Brown, a Bel Air resident who was presented the Excellence in Management Award for her work in making The Arc Baltimore’s day programs more financially sustainable;
  • Abingdon resident Amanda Maier, who was honored with the Employee of the Year Award – Administration for her work as The Arc Baltimore’s information systems manager; and
  • Nottingham resident Asakegn “Isaac” Gobena, a direct support professional in community living who received the Employee of the Year Award – Direct Support.

“The outstanding dedication and work of these five individuals – and so many other employees of The Arc Baltimore – are integral in helping us to meet our mission, providing advocacy and high-quality, life-changing supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families,” explains Kathleen Durkin, the organization’s Executive Director.

Currently celebrating its 70th year, The Arc Baltimore supports more than 6,000 adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families living in Baltimore City and Baltimore County
