Bosley Merryman Kemp, 87, of Cockeysville

Bosley Merryman Kemp (Woozie), a retired Excavation contractor, died of respiratory complications at GBMC Hospital on Saturday Feb. 20. The Cockeysville resident was 87.
Born at Hayfields, his family’s farm in Cockeysville, he attended St. Paul’s School for Boys and Towson High School.
While growing up, he spent most of his time farming while excelling at Lacrosse. After these formative years, he started Kemp Contracting, an excavation business in Cockeysville. He retired 17 years ago.

In retirement, he enjoyed caring for his 17 acre property on Shawan Rd. Gardening was also something he very much enjoyed. He loved Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, and had several of them over the years naming them all “Happy.”
Woozie, is survived by Frances Kemp, Nicholas Kemp and his wife Dawn, Dorothy Carter and John Kemp and his wife Laura. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Charles Carter, Audra Kemp, Sam Bowen, Nicholas Kemp III, Casey Carter and Haley Kemp, two sisters Ann Merryman Bartlett-Robson and Agnes Kemp Delo. Charles T. Kemp, Woozie’s brother passed away in 2007.

A memorial service will be held at Sherwood Episcopal Church, 5 Sherwood Road, Cockeysville on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Stella Maris, Attn: Development Office, 2300 Dulaney Valley Road, Timonium, MD 21093. Please include that it’s a gift in memory of Bosley Merryman Kemp.
