Meet Local Author Carol Westreich Solomon

At Greetings and Readings of Hunt Valley in honor of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Meet local author Carol Westreich Solomon at Greetings and Readings of Hunt Valley on Saturday, January 16, from 1-2:30 p.m. In honor of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Carol Solomon will be signing copies of her new YA novel Imagining Katherine, which is set in the segregated Jewish suburbs of Baltimore during the early 1960s. Imagining Katherine transports readers to the heart of the civil rights movement through the eyes of a young teen whose life changes when the first black student joins Katherine’s class. A touching tale of family, friendship, and acceptance, Katherine’s story serves as a testament to true courage--and those who stood up for fairness and equality along the way.

Carol Solomon, a former educator and administrator in Montgomery County, Maryland, grew up in Baltimore during the civil rights movement and witnessed changes in the hearts and minds of teenagers firsthand. Solomon’s writings have appeared in a number of publications, including the Washington Post, Persimmon Tree, Poetica, Jewish Fiction.Net, and the English Journal.
