Music & Imagination Summer Day Camp Now Enrolling!

One of a Kind Experience for Kids Who Love Music!

Children’s Chorus of Maryland & School of Music and the American Kodály Institute at Loyola University Maryland will hold the Music & Imagination Summer Day Camp from July 16th to July 20th, 2018 on the Loyola University Maryland campus. The camp provides a one of a kind experience for children between the ages 5 ½ and 13 to explore and expand their understanding and relationship to music through play, games, and other joyful summer activities.

Offered for the fifth year at the Loyola University Maryland campus, the Music & Imagination Summer Day Camp provides a unique opportunity for children to learn songs and games along with choral repertoire. The half-day camp takes place from 8 am to 1:30 pm and includes singing games and puppet musicals for children ages 5 ½ to 8. Younger campers will also learn solfa hand-signals. Full day campers between the ages 9 to 13 will have the chance to learn how to play the ukulele, sing folk songs and practice musicianship. The full day camp takes place from 8 am to 5:15 pm. All campers will participate in a student performance on the last day of camp, Friday, July 2oth, as well as join together in outdoor activities, craft projects, and more.

Ms. Lauren McDougle serves as the camp director for the Music & Imagination Summer Day Camp. She is the Program Director of Kodály Graduate Studies for the American Kodály Institute at Loyola University Maryland and the Education Director for Children’s Chorus of Maryland. Ms. McDougle teaches graduate level Materials classes in the summer at the American Kodály Institute and is a frequent presenter at workshops and professional development sessions in the state of Maryland. Ms. McDougle also teaches pre-kindergarten to fifth grade general music and chorus in the public schools. All camp teachers are Kodály trained.

Celebrating its 42nd season, Children's Chorus of Maryland and School of Music (CCM) is one of the most respected programs for choral music education and performance in the United States. Under the direction of Artistic Director Susan Bialek, the music Conservatory program features highly qualified teachers, small classes, and in-depth vocal enrichment to provide children with a complete musical education and choral experience. Children as young as 5 ½ are encouraged to audition for one of the Conservatory’s three choirs. Classes and rehearsals are offered twice weekly from September to May at CCM’s facility near downtown Towson, and performances are held each semester. CCM welcomes children attend public, private and parochial schools as well as those who are homeschooled. Merit and need-based scholarships are available. CCM also offers a summer camp for children 5 ½ to 13, and music and play classes for 4 to 6-year-olds.
