Part Of York Road Closed Due To Water Main Break
A water main break in Cockeysville is impacting traffic, officials say.
COCKEYSVILLE, MD — Emergency repairs have closed York Road at Ashland Road, according to the State Highway Administration. A water main broke near the intersection, officials reported on Monday, June 17.
York Road will remain closed through the Tuesday morning rush hour, according to state highway personnel.
Drivers should take Interstate 83, as detours are in effect in the area.

At southbound York Road, drivers are detoured to make the right turn onto Shawan Road, left on McCormick Road, left on Wight Avenue and right onto southbound York Road.
Northbound drivers will be detoured from York Road left onto Wight Avenue, right onto McCormick Road, right onto Shawan Road and left onto York Road.

Drivers should allow for extra travel time and slow down in the area.

The closure took effect after 12:30 a.m. on Monday, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation's Coordinated Highways Action Response Team.
It came less than a week after a sinkhole more than 2.5 miles south on York Road caused a daylong closure at York and Padonia roads, which formed after a water main break.
According to WBAL, 40 businesses and residents are affected Monday morning due to the water main break in Cockeysville.
