BE PREPARED: Hurricane Season Is Upon Us
Local agencies will be at Target to offer safety information.

The Target store at the Mall at Prince Georges will hold a National Preparedness Month awareness program from 10 a.m. to noon on Sept. 22.
Besides the Hyattsville Police Department, the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department, and Target, the Hyattsville CERT team will be on hand to help with handing out information on preparedness that has been prepared by Target and the Department of Homeland Security.Â
On Sept. 1. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Craig Fugate kicked off the seventh annual National Preparedness Month talking about the importance of family and community emergency preparedness, especially as storms continue to form in the Atlantic Ocean.

National Preparedness Month is led by FEMA's Ready Campaign in partnership with Citizen Corps and The Advertising Council, and is a nationwide effort encouraging individuals, families, businesses and communities to work together and take action to prepare for emergencies.
