After a nearly three-hour executive session, the Hyattsville City Council on Sept. 4 slashed all but the consent and action items from their meeting agenda.
Here's what they approved:
- A proclamation in recognition for Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 through Oct.15);
- A resolution of support for the Hyattsville Community Development Corporation's application to Maryland's Community Investment Tax Credit Program, as required by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development of any non- profit organization submitting a Community Investment Tax Credit Program Application;
- The designation of the 3100 block of Gumwood Drive as a residential parking permit district.
- Acceptance and appropriation of $250,000 in funding awarded to the City of Hyattsville by the Maryland Department of Transportation for public infrastructure improvements for the EYA East Development. The city will serve as a pass through for the funds, which the state will give to EYA as reimbursement for things like curb cuts and sidewalk at East Village;
- Authorization for City Administrator Elaine Murphy to execute contracts with Charles P. Johnson and Associates and Sabra Wang & Associates for engineering services;
- Authorization for Murphy to execute a contract with: Ex-cel Tree Expert Co., Inc; Adirondack Tree Experts; and, ArborCare, Inc., for the purpose of maintenance and care of public trees for a time period of five years.
- Approval of the hiring of the top candidate for the Mechanic II position at Grade 111, Step 12 pending successful completion of background check;
- Waiver of the formal bidding process and authorization for Murphy to purchase road salt from Mid-Atlantic Salt, LLC at the price of $75.85 per ton delivered, or $69.00 per ton picked up from their Baltimore terminal.
The council is scheduled to meet next on Oct. 11.
