The 2013 National Prep Football Preseason Poll has been released and DeMatha Catholic High School's gridiron squad is ranked eighth in the nation, according to The San Francisco Chronicle.
Noting that the Hyattsville-based football powerhouse has won eight Washinton Catholic Athletic Conference championships since 2000, the poll also ranked DeMatha as the top team in the regional East Coast rankings, which features WCAC football rivals Good Counsel in Olney.
DeMatha opens up the football season on Saturday, Aug. 24 on the road against Phoebus High School in Virginia Beach.
