Free Doggy Checkups at Heurich Park Thursday

Mobile dog heart health clinic travels to Heurich Park on Thursday afternoon.

America, you are collectively getting fatter and your sedentary lifestyle is also now affecting your dogs, causing a plague of plump pooches.

From this unfortunate side effect of the great public plumping epidemic is borne Your Dog's Heart, which aims to educate pet owners about the risks of heart disease in dogs.

Among their efforts, the organization also provides free canine health screenings across the country with their Mobile Dog Heart Health Tour.

Tomorrow, April 26 from 3 to 7 p.m., the Mobile Dog Heart Health Tour will be stopping in Hyattsville's Heurich Park Dog Park to offer free canine health screenings.

The event is not yet listed on Yourdogsheart.com, because it came together the last minute, according to Hyattsville Recreation and Arts Director Abby Sandel.

Your Dog's Heart recommends keeping your dog healthy with a balanced diet, regular exercise and routine checkups. Sound familiar? It also works for humans.

Taking a walk once in a while wouldn't kill you, either, and it'd certainly make your dog feel better.
