Langley Park Fatal Assault Suspect Arrested By PG County Police

Prince George's County Police arrested and charged a Langley Park man in connection with the March 18 fatal assault of a Berwyn Heights man.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — Prince George's County Police arrested a Langley Park man in connection with the fatal assault earlier this month of a Berwyn Heights man, according to a police release.

On Wednesday, March 18, around 7:10 a.m., PGPD officers responded to the 1500 block of Merrimac Drive for a welfare check. Arriving on the scene, officers found Cristian Montoya-Canales, 34, of Berwyn Heights, suffering from trauma to the body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

PGPD arrested and charged Edwin Salmeron-Gonzalez, 22, of 1700 block of Keokee Street in Langley Park. An initial investigation revealed Salmeron-Gonzalez and Montoya-Canales knew each other.
