M-NCPPC To Buy Beth Torah Temple

Synagogue property to be used to build new Prince George's Plaza Community Center.

Hyattsville area residents can look forward to a new community center in the future, if building funds are made available.

Earlier this week, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources awarded $1.8 million to the Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission to purchase a little more than one acre of land in Hyattsville to rebuild the Prince George's Plaza Community Center.

"This acquisition will provide the M-NCPPC with enough land to rebuild and expand the Prince George’s Plaza Community Center ─ its oldest community center ─ and associated parking when future funding becomes available," reads a press release from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

The property includes the 17,250 square-foot built in 1971. Until building funds are approved, the property can be used as a rental facility to host special events.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources also awarded $161,130 to the M-NCPPC to purchase five more acres of land for the Glenn Dale Community Center Park.
