Starting Monday, a new coronavirus testing site will be open three days a week in Hyattsville.
HYATTSVILLE, MD — Prince George's County residents will soon be able to obtain free testing for COVID-19, the virus associated with the new coronavirus, at a new location without an appointment.
Starting Monday, members of the public looking to be tested can visit the First United Methodist Church of Hyattsville, 6201 Belcrest Road in Hyattsville. The free/no appointment testing is made available through a partnership between the church, Luminis Health, and the City of Hyattsville. Drive-thru and walkup testing will be available Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturday, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Luminis Health staff members will be administering the tests, which will be provided by the Prince George's County Health Department. The facility will have the capacity to conduct 200 tests per day, with results in 24-48 hours.

As many more services will be open as the county enters Phase Two of its reopening, Dr. Ernest Carter, Prince George's County's health officer, warned residents to continue practicing preventative measures to stop the spread of COVID-19. He also noted that individuals who may be taking part in any of the recent mass protests going on in the region should be tested for COVID-19.

"We want you to get tested if you attended or plan to attend a mass protest," he said. "Even if you do all the right things to protect yourself during these important events, large gatherings pose a high risk of transmission."
