New Year's Day 2015: What's Open and Closed in Prince George's County

From the local food store to trash collection, find out what is closed around town Jan. 1.

The winter holidays are winding down and New Year’s Eve is quickly approaching. As you start those resolutions (like these seven which everyone should make!) don’t forget that some Prince George’s County stores and services will put business on pause in recognition of the holiday.

New Year’s Day is Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015.

These Bowie businesses will be closed on New Year’s Day:

  • ALDI, 6810 Race Track Road: CLOSED
  • BJ’s, 16520 Ballpark Road: OPEN 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Bowie Town Center, 15606 Emerald Way: OPEN 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Five Below, 3855 Evergreen Parkway: OPEN 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Pier 1 Imports, 4410 Mitchellville Road: OPEN 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Walgreens, 15990 Annapolis Road: OPEN 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The following services will not operate on New Year’s Day and will resume on Jan. 2:

  • TheBus
  • Call-A-Bus
  • Senior Transportation
  • Prince George’s County Click 3-1-1

The following will be closed on Jan. 1:

  • All city offices
  • Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill
  • Brown Station Road Public Convenience Center
  • Electronics Recycling Acceptance Site
  • Household Hazardous Waste Acceptance Site
  • Missouri Avenue Solid Waste Acceptance and Recycling Center
  • Prince George’s County Yard Waste Composting Facility
  • Trash Collection in County Contracted Areas (next collection will be on the regularly scheduled day)
  • Bulky Trash Collection
  • Curbside Recycling Collection (WILL OPERATE)
