Purple Line to Sponsor Free Touch-a-Truck Festival to Help Foster
8th Annual World of Wheels for CASA Rolling into Hyattsville

For the first time, Purple Line Transit Partners and Purple Line Transit Constructors will be the title sponsor of the World of Wheels for CASA. This annual touch-a-truck and family festival benefits Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)Prince George’s County which matches volunteers with the community’s most vulnerable boys and girls- children in foster care.
“Purple Line Transit Partners (PLTP) and Purple Line Transit Constructors (PLTC) are proud to sponsor CASA’s 8th annual World of Wheels celebration. We are excited to be a part of this local event that allows children and families to explore vehicles that keep the community moving. With construction of the Purple Line well underway along the 16.2-mile alignment, we are thrilled to show the community the equipment being used to construct the light rail project and, happy to give back to the local community.”
The Purple Line World of Wheels will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10am-2pm at DeMatha High School at 4313 Madison Street in Hyattsville. The first 400 people will receive a free tote.

Council Member Deni Taveras is generously sponsoring admission so the event will be free and open to the public which includes access to all vehicles. In addition to Purple Line construction equipment, the touch-a-truck will feature a variety of vehicles including a Pepco utility truck, Turbo Haul truck, Amerigroup community health vehicle, Asplundh Tree Expert’s bucket truck and chipper, Safeway tractor trailer, rescue vehicles and more.
In addition to the touch-a-truck there will be kid-friendly food from Soul Wingz, music and an assortment of activities for kids of all ages, including moon bounces, carnival games, face painting and cotton candy. Tickets can be purchased on site for activities.

Sensory Hour will take place from 10am-11am with lower sound and no horns for guests with sensory-processing issues.
“We are excited to hold our 8th Annual World of Wheels for CASA and are grateful to the Purple Line and Council Member Deni Taveras for their commitment to foster youth in the County,” said Court Appointed Special Advocate Executive Director Ann Marie Binsner.
A variety of local organizations have come together to make this event possible including Purple Line Transit Constructors, Purple Line Transit Partners, Council Member Deni Taveras, Turbo Haul, WTOP, Amerigroup, Pepco, Soul Wingz and Nauticon Office Solutions.
