Virginia Police Arrest Hyattsville Woman, D.C. Woman For Theft

The two also face other charges in neighboring jurisdictions, says Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

LEESBURG, VA — A woman from Hyattsville and another woman from Washington, D.C., are behind bars in Loudoun County, Va., after they were accused Monday of stealing merchandise at a local store, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Deputies arrested Maria A. Lewis, 44, of Hyattsville, and Ivy M. Cooper, 31, of the District, at a store in the 46000 block of Cranston Street in Sterling, Va.

Both women were charged with obtaining money by false pretenses and conspiracy to commit grand larceny, the sheriff's office said. Cooper also was charged with possession of a fictitious government ID and identity theft.

In addition, the two were served with multiple outstanding warrants from surrounding jurisdictions for failure to appear, the sheriff's office said.

Lewis and Cooper are being held on bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center in Leesburg.
