Week In Review

This week we talked a lot about the infamous Hs – H-shaped planters that have been placed in Hyattsville's parks. Some like them, some don't.

Patch posted photos and a poll asking residents what people think about the Hs. The poll is still around so feel free to speak up.

We also covered a Pepco meeting where residents told the utility what they thought about the frequent and long-standing outages recently experienced by thousands in the region.

Early voting started, county fire/EMS helped out at the Silver Spring hostage situation and the air conditioning got turned back on at Hyattsville Elementary School.

And speaking of HES, writer Theresa Barry wrote about how the school has a "green" future with environmentally friendly modifications being made to the building.

Writer Rick Docksai also wrote about HES this week. He talked to Principal Jeanne Washburn about the Triple Double Incentive Program, which HES piloted last week.

Toward the end of the week, Patch writers penned about Northwestern High School sports, including a basketball-player-turned-golfer and the school's football season debut against Charles H. Flowers High School on Saturday night.
