Wingard Trades Council Race for Space Race

A little more than a week ago, Hyattsville Patch first told you that Hyattsville Councilor Eric Wingard (Ward 1) was likely going to be suspending his re-election campaign to take a personal opportunity which he said he couldn't pass up. However, Wingard said he would be letting Patch know of his final decision by April 5. Well, he never did, and to be quite honest, I didn't really make much of an effort to get it sorted out.

But wonder no more, Hyattsville political watchers. Over the weekend, The Hyattsville Life and Times arrived in the mail reporting that Wingard, an aerospace engineering contractor currently working at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, will be leaving to work on a project with the European Space Administration. As you might expect, the job requires a lot of travel to Europe.

Wingard said that he will be relocating his family to another part of Maryland in September.
