Congratulations Kindergarten Teacher, Mrs. Theresa Stavish!

Holy Cross School Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Mrs. Theresa Stavish, Kindergarten teacher at Holy Cross School in Garrett Park, who was named the school’s Teacher of the Year at the recent Catholic School Teachers Appreciation and Awards Night held by the Knights of Columbus Council 2797. Holy Cross is a co-educational, 2013 National Blue Ribbon School serving children in Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.

Principal, Lisa Maio Kane states, “Mrs. Stavish carefully guides students in the early years of their academic life and their faith formation. She truly embodies our motto of Faith, Scholarship, and Service by educating our Kindergarten students' mind, body and soul.”

Mrs. Stavish earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland College Park, a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and completed graduate coursework in reading education through the University of Virginia. In 2008, Mrs. Stavish began her career at Holy Cross as the Kindergarten Teacher. Previously, Mrs. Stavish taught Head Start, First Grade, and was a Reading Initiative Teacher while working in Montgomery County Public Schools. She holds a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional Certificate with certification areas in early childhood education and reading specialist.
