Kensington Ranks High On 'Best Place To Live In Maryland' List
Data site Niche.com ranked Kensington high on 2018's best place to live in Maryland list, based on schools, crime rate, diversity and more.
KENSINGTON, MD — What's the best place to live in Maryland? That depends on who you ask. According to a new set of rankings released by the neighborhood data site Niche.com, Kensington placed high on the "Best Places to Live in Maryland" 2018 list.
Kensington came in at No. 6 out of 251 communities.
Niche.com took several factors into consideration to arrive at the rankings, such as: the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, diversity, nightlife, walkability, weather, employment statistics and access to amenities.

Researchers gave Kensington: A+ in public schools; A+ in good for families; B+ in diversity; B in nightlife and B in housing. The population is 2,11 and the estimated median home value is $662,900.
A current Kensington resident said: "Kensington is a very safe and convenient area to live in. My elementary, middle school, and high school is all in walking distance. Local shopping centers are easy to get to and there are always events going on that makes the community get closer, such as Kensington Day, marathons and farmers markets."

The suburbs in Montgomery County dominated the rankings. According to Niche.com, these are the best places to live in Maryland:
- North Bethesda
- Garrett Park
- North Potomac
- Bethesda
- South Kensington
- Kensington
- Ellicott City
- Rockville
- Urbana
- Columbia
