Summer Enrichment Camps at Holy Cross School
Summer Enrichment Camps at Holy Cross are being offered in June and July.
Silver Knights is offering Chess, Coding and Engineering camps at Holy Cross School in Garrett Park. Close to home, educational and FUN!
Join the summer fun at Holy Cross School for the week of June 19th (offering Chess, Coding and Engineering) and the week of July 10th (offering only chess). Each camp is one week long, have half and full day options, and are for ages 3-15 years old.
Chess: Spend a week playing and learning about chess from the Silver Knights chess coaches! Coaches are professional chess instructors. Campers are broken up into groups by skill level; beginners up through experienced and highly-rated tournament players are welcome. Each camper receives a T-shirt and a tournament-style chess set.
Coding: In Coding Camp, children learn to create stories, games, and animations using a visual programming language called Scratch. It’s as easy to use as snapping together building blocks! With Scratch, children learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically. Silver Knights provides a laptop for every child. At the end of the week, each camper takes home a T-shirt and a USB with all their programs on it!
Engineering: In Engineering Camp, children will use the Engineering Design Process to explore aerospace engineering concepts with stomp rockets. Campers will design rockets and rovers to help explore the planets and moons of our solar system! Each camper takes home a t-shirt and some of the projects they create!
Camp runs daily from 9 am – 4 pm, with aftercare going until 5:30 p.m. The camps will also offer beforecare for participants who need it. Holy Cross School, is located at 4900 Strathmore Ave, Garrett Park, MD 20896, conveniently near the Grosvenor Metro Station, just off of Rockville Pike (355) and an easy exit from I-270.
