What's Open, Closed in Montgomery County on Labor Day 2015

Here’s what’s open and closed in Montgomery County on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7:

• All Montgomery County offices will be closed
• Libraries are closed
• County liquor stores will remain open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Outdoor aquatic facilities will be open from noon to 6 p.m.
• The Ride On, Metrobus and Metrorail will operate on a Sunday schedule
• Refuse/recycling pickup will be provided one day later for the remainder of the week. The last collection day is Saturday.
• Montgomery County Public Schools’ administrative offices and all school buildings will be closed
• State offices and courts are close

Metro Service

Metrorail: The system will open at 7 a.m. and close at midnight. Trains will operate on a Sunday schedule. Passengers are advised of scheduled rebuilding work on the Red, Orange, Silver and Blue lines. Off-peak fares will be in effect all day, and parking will be free at all Metrorail parking facilities.

Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. Check bus timetables for details.

MetroAccess: All subscription trips will be canceled on Monday. Customers wishing to travel on the holiday should make a separate reservation.

City of Rockville Closings

Rockville City Hall and some city facilities will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Recycling, yard waste and refuse collection will be suspended on Sept. 7 and made one day later throughout the week. For more information on holiday collection schedules, call 240-314-8568 or visit www.rockvillemd.gov/recycling-refuse.

The following Rockville facilities will be closed Sept. 7:
• Croydon Creek Nature Center.
• Glenview Mansion and the Art Gallery.
• Lincoln Park, Thomas Farm and Twinbrook community centers.
• Rockville Senior Center.

The Fitzgerald Theatre and box office will be closed Saturday Sept. 5 – Monday, Sept. 7 and will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at www.rockvillemd.gov/theatre.

The Rockville Swim and Fitness Center will be open on Labor Day. The indoor north pool will be open from noon-8 p.m. The rest of the facility will be open from noon-9 p.m. The outdoor pool season will be extended into the fall, weather permitting. Parking fees at city-owned meters will be suspended for the day.

Labor Day Forecast

An early look ahead at the holiday, which brings a three-day weekend for many folks, looks perfect for getting outside. Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high of 83 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Sunday and Monday the skies should be mostly sunny with highs in the mid to uppers 80s.
