Uncle of Marathon Suspects is from Montgomery Village, Calls Events Shocking

The uncle of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects is from Montgomery County and says he is "devastated" by developments.

Update (2 p.m.) The uncle of the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects told CBS that his nephews "do not deserve to live on this earth," The Huffington Post reports.

In what was described as an emotional interview with the Boston TV station, Ruslan Tsarni said he was shocked but "not sympathetic" to learn that his 26-year-old nephew Tamerlan had been killed.

"Unbelievable—he absolutely deserved this," Tsarni said between heavy breaths. "I always told those two, Islam has always been there, just do your business. Work, go to school, be useful. Know why you came to America ... I am not sympathizing with them."

Update (12:15 p.m) The uncle of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects urged his surviving nephew to surrender to police.

"Turn yourself in. Ask for forgiveness," Ruslan Tsarni said.

Tsarni expressed shock when addressing reporters outside his Montgomery Village home on Friday.

“It is an atrocity,” he said. “We're shocked."

"If they were involved, I'd be the first one to bring them into responsibility," he said.

Tsarni said that on Thursday night his wife noticed pictures disseminated by the FBI. He was brought into the investigation Friday morning after being contacted by reporters.

"Of course we're ashamed,” Tsarni said. “They're children of my brother, who had little influence of them"

The bomb suspects are said to be brothers and Tsarni told Associated Press that the men lived together near Boston after traveling to the United States from Chechnya about a decade ago.

Tsarni told police that the second suspect is Tamerlan Tsarnaev, older brother of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who died in a gun battle with Boston-area police early Friday, according to the AP.

Neighbors tell NBC Washington Tsarni's family has lived in the Montgomery Village home for five to seven years. The family is pleasant and there have never been any problems in the neighborhood related to the family, according to the report.
