Vintage North Baltimore: Roland Park Firehouse

In 2013, Roland Park is pretty clearly a part of Baltimore City.
But back in 1902 when this photo was taken, the "BCFD" displayed on the firehouse stood for Baltimore County, not Baltimore City.
The Roland Park Fire House, which is located on Upland Road, was a part of Baltimore County until 1918 when Baltimore City acquired a great deal of county infrastructure and economic tax base through annexation, according to an entry in the Baltimore County Public Library catalog.

The firehouse, which was built in 1899, had its living quarters upgraded thanks to the Roland Park Civic League.
The Roland Park Fire House on Upland Road was once part of Baltimore County, but became part of the the extensive county infrastructure and econimic tax base acquired by Baltimore City through annexation in 1918.
