7 Displaced, Firefighter Hurt In Severn Fire: Officials
A Severn fire displaced seven residents and injured a firefighter, officials said. The department is investigating what caused the blaze.

SEVERN, MD —Officials said a Severn house fire displaced seven adult residents and hurt a firefighter Sunday. The injured crew member from Fort Meade Fire & Emergency Services went to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center with a minor leg injury, an incident report clarified.
The press release noted that the fire started around 4:04 p.m. in the backyard of a two-story, single-family home in the 1900 block of Foxhound Court. Firefighters added that the flames extended to the:
- First floor
- Second floor
- Attic
- House Siding
- Shed
- Siding of a neighboring home

A team of 52 extinguished the visible blaze within 30 minutes, officials explained. The group controlled the fire in about two hours, the write-up stated.

The two occupants of the split-foyer home safely escaped while neighbors and a passerby called 911, the report informed. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced residents with housing, the release confirmed.
Officials indicated that they are still investigating the cause of the fire and the estimated value of the property damage.
