Brake Check Leads To Robbery While Exchanging Information: Police

Police said a driver brake checked another motorist and robbed her while they exchanged insurance information.

SEVERN, MD — Police said a driver suddenly stopped on a Severn highway Sunday, causing a trailing motorist to crash into their rear bumper. While exchanging insurance information, two Baltimore suspects assaulted the trailing driver and stole her wallet from her pants pocket, an incident report noted.

Officers added that the suspects then drove away in their white Pontiac sedan, and the victim tried to follow them. A 911 operator asked the woman to let them go for her own safety.

Police indicated that they met with the victim to get the full story. The press release explained that the encounter started around 4:05 a.m. on Maryland Route 100 just before Interstate 97.

Officers reported finding the suspects and their vehicle in the 900 block of East Jeffrey Street in Baltimore. Investigators mentioned that the suspects threw away the victim's wallet, but they eventually found it.

  • 27-year-old Delvin Julius James
  • 23-year-old Crystal Bell Goodman

Both were arrested, the write-up informed.
