Cinemark Theatres In Hanover Set For July Reopening

HANOVER, MD — Cinemark announced this week a plan to reopen all of its more than 340 locations by July 17, including in Hanover. The third-largest movie theater chain in the United States will start opening locations in Texas on June 19, before reopening the rest of its theaters between July 3 and July 17.

Cinemark chose to close its theaters on March 17 due to concerns over the coronavirus.

Anne Arundel County has one Cinemark Theatre in Hanover.

“There is nothing quite like the awe and power of great cinematic storytelling on the big screen,” Cinemark CEO Mark Zoradi said in a news release Wednesday. “And Cinemark is proud to once again welcome guests to enjoy the shared, immersive experience they crave in a way that provides them confidence and peace of mind.”

In the build-up to Disney’s “Mulan” on July 24 and Warner Bros. “Tenet” on July 31, the movie theater chain plans on showing classic films such as “Ghostbusters,” “Jurassic Park,” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

Additionally, Cinemark “will uphold enhanced cleaning and sanitizing protocols as well as have elevated expectations for employees and guests,” according to the news release.

• All public and high-touch spaces will be thoroughly sanitized every 30 minutes.
• Each auditorium will be disinfected every morning.
• All theaters will reopen with reduced hours and staggered showtimes.
• Auditoriums will have limited capacities.
• Guests are “strongly encouraged” to wear face masks.

“While Cinemark already takes significant precautions to ensure the health and safety of our employees, guests and communities, we have developed the Cinemark Standard for an extra level of cleaning and sanitizing that guests will notice from the moment they walk through our doors,” Zoradi said in the news release.

The Anne Arundel County Cinemark Theatre is located at 7000 Arundel Mills Circle, Hanover.
