Live! Casino & Hotel To Host Maryland State Poker Championship

HANOVER, MD – The Poker Room at Live! Casino & Hotel is set to host the inaugural Maryland State Poker Championship, the first-ever regional tournament geared towards local players. The 19-event tournament will take place from Jan. 3 to Jan. 13, 2019.

An $1,100 buy-in with limited re-entries and smaller rakes will give Maryland’s amateur players and seasoned poker professionals the opportunity to compete for a $150,000 guaranteed prize pool. Leading up to the main event are more than a dozen primary events, including an opening-day tournament with another six-figure guarantee.

“Maryland has never had a tournament specifically created to cater to the state’s poker players of all levels," said Mike Smith, director of poker operations at Live! Casino & Hotel, in a statement.

"We are excited to highlight our home-state pride and show competitors from across the nation how we specialize in first-class experiences and exceptional service at Live! Casino & Hotel,” he said.
