Police Find Drugs In Severn, Suspect Tries To Run Away: Officials

Police said they found drugs and a gun during a Severn traffic stop. The suspect tried to run away, but officers noted that they caught him.

SEVERN, MD — Police reported finding suspected drugs and a loaded gun during a Severn traffic stop on May 4. A press release advised that the back seat passenger tried to run away, but officers found and arrested him.

The write-up mentioned that police stopped a Mitsubishi Outlander near Reece Road and Jacobs Road around 2:15 a.m. The incident report added that the officer noticed suspected marijuana, prompting the suspect's getaway attempt.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department identified the arrestee as 30-year-old Carlyle Emman Brooks III of Severn. Officers explained that Brooks cannot legally own a gun.

Police informed that they released the driver and the other passengers from the scene.
