Severn Man Wins $100K Off Scratch Ticket

The Anne Arundel County man plans to pay off some debt and save the rest of his winnings.

SEVERN, MD — A 56-year-old Severn man who popped into Lucky's Deli & Market in Odenton wasn't planning on purchasing a scratch ticket, but after watching a customer buy The Money Game scratch-off, he felt compelled to buy one, too. As luck would have it, he ended up winning $100,000 with that spur of the moment purchase.

“I looked at the ticket and couldn’t believe it, I thought I may have had just a $10 winner," he told the Maryland Lottery.

The lucky player waited several months to claim his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters. He kept his scratch-off hidden, safe in his closet, until he made the trip from Anne Arundel County to Baltimore. The man plans to save most of his win after paying off some bigger bills.
