Sexual Solicitation Of Minor Charged To Gambrills Man: Police

HANOVER, MD — Police said a Gambrills man tried to have a sexual encounter with a minor on Monday. An undercover officer caught the suspect and arrested him, a press release noted.

The incident report added that a trooper was monitoring an online dating application, posing as a 14-year-old boy. The accused man started a conversation with the fictitious minor with the goal of having a sexual encounter, police explained.

Officers mentioned that the suspect arranged a meetup with the supposed boy that day in Hanover. He arrived around 5:20 p.m., the write-up informed.

The Maryland State Police reported arresting the suspect on the scene with help from the Anne Arundel County Police Department. Authorities identified the arrestee as 42-year-old Catalino Lopez Cordova.

Officials indicated that Lopez Cordova faces one count of sexual solicitation of a minor. A judge held him without bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center, the release clarified.
