BCPS Students Return to the Classroom Monday
Aug. 26 is the first day of school for the 2013-14 school year.

It never fails, summer flies by and before the bathing suit can dry, students are sitting in front of their teachers again. Here is some news and information to help the transition go more smoothly.Â
Important Dates
- Monday, Aug. 26: first day of school
- Monday, Sept. 2: schools closed for Labor Day
- Thursday, Sept. 5: schools closed for Rosh Hashanah
- Friday, Oct. 18: school closed for students, professional development
- Thursday, Oct. 31: First marking period ends – Schools Close 3 Hours Early for Elementary and Middle School StudentsÂ
- Friday, Nov. 1: schools closed for professional development
- Friday, Nov. 15: Elementary Conference Day – Schools Closed for Elementary Students
- Thursday-Friday, Oct. 28-29: Thanksgiving holiday, schools and offices closed
- Friday, Dec. 20 - Wednesday, Jan 1: schools closed for winter break

- Glyndon Elementary School: Common Core Spaghetti Dinner Night, Sept. 10, PK-5, 5:30-6:30 p.m.; Back to School Night, Sept. 10, PK-5, 6:30-8 p.m.
- Owings Mills Elementary School: Back to School Night, Gr K-2, Sept. 10, 6:30 p.m.–8 p.m.Â
