Buyer Of Cal Ripken Jr.'s Mansion Revealed
The gorgeous baseball-themed estate sold by Cal Ripken Jr. has everything a sports star could ask for, and now we know who bought it.
REISTERSTOWN, MD — The new owner of Cal Ripken Jr.'s Reisterstown estate, which was sold over the weekend at auction, has been revealed, according to a report. Orioles centerfielder Adam Jones purchased the 25-acre property, which comes with its own ball field, The Athletic reports. Karen Hubble Bisbee, who represented the winning bidder, said the new owners will move in on June 11.
Bisbee, principal of Hubble Bisbee of Long and Foster Real estate, couldn't divulge information on the buyers due to a confidentiality agreement, the Baltimore Business Journal reported. She said such secrecy is common in high-end real estate transactions.
But on Thursday The Athletic said Jones, who buys and sells homes for investments, had snagged the home Ripken first put up for sale following his divorce. Sources told the website that Jones bought Ripken's property as an investment, since he is in the last year of a contract with the Orioles and unlikely to sign again with the Baltimore team.

The auction was run by luxury real estate auctioneer DeCaro Auctions. The baseball-themed estate at 13301 Dover Road in Reisterstown was listed for $12.5 million in 2016 but didn't sell. The following year, Ripken dropped the price to $9.75 million but still had no takers until the May 12 auction.
"Cal attended the auction and was gracious and warm to all who were there," Bisbee said, the Business Journal reported. "Every single buyer that was there honored it for what it is and what it can be."

The stunning estate has six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and a kitchen that can accommodate up to 100 guests, according to the Business Journal. It's got a batting cage, training room, a pond and a spa, and don't forget the 11-seat movie theater.
Ripken and his former wife have two adult children who grew up there. The couple divorced in 2016, which is the year he put the property on the market. Ripken reportedly maintained the sweeping estate himself on a ride-on mower. "I always liked living out in the country," Ripken, who grew up in Harford County, told The Washington Post.
