“Sadly, most female victims of domestic violence evoke spousal privilege and refuse to testify against their partners. Even in cases as egregious as this.”

“There is no good reason to have the weapon on campus. That by itself is a moral crime at a minimum. I lived for 5 years in a community where access to guns was strictly controlled. If you did not have authorization to be armed, it was a crime to possess them. It was the Marine Corps. We are experts at weapons. But other than combat and some other purposes, we gave weapons the respect they required by not having frivolous use or possession. We have too many people who should not have guns because they are untrained in their use.” -

“Personally, I don’t have any problem with developers proposing legislation, just like I don’t have a problem with animal activists, community activists or specialized task forces/committees/organizations proposing legislation. That being said, the question we should all be asking is whether this is a good bill which furthers mixed-used projects with a community benefit or not, and whether there are sufficient safeguards for public input and review to thwart abuse. I am surprised that Bevins did not sign on to this bill, but frankly, I am encouraged that Marks is among the sponsors, as he seems to have his pulse on development and zoning issues not only in his own district but in neighboring districts as well.” -

“The libraries shouldn't offer this book simply because it is so poorly written. However, there are plenty of books offered at the public library that have sexual themes and a graphic nature. This book is only coming under fire because it is the book du jour. Last time I went to the library there was an entire section dedicated to romance novels. They are just as trashy and smutty, and are not banned. I think everyone just needs something to be up in arms about.”
