Curtains Up on Jemicy School's First Honor Society
Jemicy School launches new chapter of the International Thespian Society.
On March 9, of this year, Jemicy School officially chartered a chapter of the International Thespian Society and was granted acceptance. Jemicy is now home to Troupe #8269 and joins 97 other active high school troupes across the state.
The International Thespian Society (ITS), founded in 1929, is the only international honor society recognizing student achievement in theatre; it is the first ever honor society on campus at Jemicy School.
In a very impressive ceremony this month, the school celebrated its charter, along with the induction of its first 11 thespian troupe members, including the 4 officers, who were elected by their peers: Patrick Kammar ’16, President; Patrick Ahlgren ’17, VP; Chloe Wendler ’19, Secretary; Craig Millin ’17, Treasurer. Other inductees were: Noah Berman ’18, Evan Boardman ’17, Nicole D’Anna ’18, Liv Erlandson ’18, Billy Gibson ’17, Alex Meek ’17, and Catey Zacur ’18.

To qualify for membership, students must complete 100 hours of theatre work and participate in at least two theatrical productions.
The installing officer and special guest for the Induction Ceremony was Everyman Theatre's General Manager Ms. Jessica Lanzillotti. The event included speeches, the official presentation of the charter, pinning, and the signing of the membership role.

Sean Elias, Upper School performing arts faculty and Drama Club supervisor, was instrumental in chartering this ITS chapter at Jemicy School. In addition to teaching theatre arts, Sean, an accomplished actor, has been performing professionally for years, recently debuting Off-Broadway and in major musical productions in New Jersey; recently he was appointed Artistic Director and CEO of Iron Crow Theatre in Baltimore City.
