10th Annual DogFest Is Set For Saturday
After being postponed due to Florence, the furtastic event raise funds for the animal-loving nonprofit in Reisterstown is Saturday, Oct. 6.
The 10th annual DogFest, has been postponed to Saturday, October 6 due to the impact of heavy rains and Hurricane Florence. Maryland has been declared a state of emergency by Governor Hogan in anticipation of historic, catastrophic and life-threatening flooding. The private, no-kill shelter feels the only responsible choice is to reschedule its largest fundraiser of the year. Baltimore Humane Society is hoping to do its part in the hurricane relief efforts and is in talks now about transporting animals up from North Carolina.
Named by the Baltimore Sun as a Top 2017 Event, Baltimore Humane Society’s DogFest Walk & Festival is a dog day exstravaganza benefiting animals in need of care and refuge at the 365 acre no-kill shelter. Approximately 5000 people are expected to gather on the grounds of the shelter in Reisterstown to participate in a fundraising walk through a nature preserve, games, contests, demonstrations, and kid activities. Pet lovers, pet owners, kids, and pets spend the day filled with tons of activities for both humans and dogs including a 20 foot climbing wall and Cross-Fit by Arenal Fitness. Swimming, agility, bowling, tetherball, pup putt, bubble chase are just some of the many canine activities. Dogs can be entered In the Best of the Fest Photo Contest in which winners of Best Smile, Best Mutt, and Best Overall will be featured in Baltimore Style, Baltimore’s Child, and Maryland Dog Magazine.
It will all take place on the grounds of Baltimore Humane Society at 1601 Nicodemus Road in Reisterstown from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, October 6h. Kids age 5 and under and dogs always free. Don’t miss this Baltimore Sun Top Rated Event!
