Dorothy 'Dottie' Lyle Mitchell, 90, of Reisterstown

Dorothy "Dottie" Lyle Mitchell, 90, of Reisterstown, passed peacefully Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at Seasons Hospice of Northwest Hospital. Born Aug. 20, 1926, in Atlanta, Georgia, she was third of four children born to the late James Edward Lyle and Johnnie Lou Hixon; the last surviving member of her siblings Nell, Jimmy and Jeanette.

Dorothy was retired, but formerly worked as a waitress at the White Coffee Pot in Reisterstown. She lived a full life, and spent her free time with her family and friends; often playing bingo, hosting luncheons, and taking trips to various locales.

She is survived by her large family, consisting of four children and their spouses -- James Edward Mitchell (wife Mary Mitchell), Timothy Christopher Mitchell (wife Susan Mitchell), Mark Edward Mitchell (wife Kim Mitchell), and Mary Delphine Mitchell-Harrell (husband Robert Harrell) -- as well as seven grandchildren: James Mitchell Jr, Christopher Barnhart, Margaret Long, Craig Schroeder, Christina Davis, Emma Davis, and Brittany Mitchell.

Dorothy was a kind, sweet soul who devoted all the love she had to offer to those around her. Anyone who knew her would vouch the effect that she had on their lives was nothing short of positive. The family welcomes anyone who wishes to offer condolences to attend the memorial service at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel in Owings Mills on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m.
