Freeze Watch Issued For Baltimore County

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Temperatures may drop below freezing overnight into Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a freeze watch that includes Baltimore County. The freeze watch will be in effect from midnight to 9 a.m. Saturday, May 9.

Temperatures could drop as low as 31 degrees, according to the freeze watch, which applies to northern Baltimore County and northwest Harford County.

Sensitive vegetation could be killed due to the frost and freezing conditions, while outdoor plumbing may also be damaged if not protected, weather officials say.

"Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold," the National Weather Service advised. "To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing."

Friday: High near 59 and low around 33 degrees. A chance of showers mainly after 11 a.m. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph during the day and 26 mph at night. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: Temperatures could dip below freezing overnight. Otherwise, high near 48 degrees and low around 34 degrees. Wind gusts up to 34 mph during the day and 24 mph at night.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60 and low around 43. Wind gusts as high as 23 mph. There's a 30 percent chance of evening showers.

Monday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 60 and low around 38. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 58 and low near 40.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62 and low around 45.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 66.
