Gardens, Birds and Storytellers: Upcoming Events at Irvine Nature Center

The weather may be getting brisk but outdoor fun is still easy to find at Irvine Nature Center, 11201 Garrison Forest Rd. in Owings Mills.

Here are some upcoming activities that bring nature and education together in exciting ways for children:

Tales and Tails
Friday, Nov. 22 from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
Join Irvine for a few animal stories followed by an animal meet & greet. Get an up-close and hands-on experience with Irvine's animals. For all ages, this event is free. No need to register--just show up.

Youth Birding League
Saturday, Nov. 23 from 9 to 11 a.m.
Are you interested in nature but need more than a kids program? This naturalist-led series introduces youth to competitive and scientific birding opportunities. Learn easy identification techniques, how to bird on a team and visit new places month to month. You will make new friends, learn to bird and create many memorable moments! Ages 10-15. Cost is $10 members, $20 non-members.

Tellabration
Sunday, Nov. 24 from 2 to 5 p.m.
This event brings together the world’s most celebrated storytellers, to delight, captivate and mesmerize audiences with their tales. Guilds and storytelling enthusiasts all around the globe will share their storytelling talents in concerts held in cities and towns to celebrate the art. Irvine is proud to host some of Baltimore’s own great storytellers in cooperation with the Baltimore Folk Music Society. Enjoy crafts, refreshments, dancing and, of course, wonderfully vibrant stories. This event is free and open to all ages.

Garden Keepers
Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Invasive plants present one of the greatest threats to the health and biodiversity of our area. The unwelcome greens disrupt natural ecosystems, displace native plants, impact native wildlife and degrade the wonderfully diverse lands of Caves Valley.

Irvine’s Garden Keepers can volunteer any Wednesday morning to learn about and help control the non-native invasive problem, and keep our gardens beautiful.

Learning, weed removal and new friends!
