Help Light Up the Cemetery to Celebrate Reisterstown History, Veterans

November marks the 249th anniversary of the Reisterstown Community Cemetery.

On Nov. 9, the Reisterstown Community Cemetery will come alive as locals honor the cemetery's history and the veterans laid to rest there.

On Saturday, Nov. 9 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. there will be re-enactments and demonstrations, followed by a luminaria lighting, at the Reisterstown Community Cemetery, 19 Cockeys Mill Rd.

The afternoon will start off with tours and live history demonstrations by Civil War Re-enactors. Graves of veterans of all conflicts, from the Revolutionary War up to World War II, will be marked with American flags in honor of Veterans' Day. The luminarias will be lit near sundown.

November marks the 249th anniversary of the cemetery. Restoration work will soon be starting on the fallen east wall. The next project after that will be replacing the entrance gates.
