Home Of Edgar Allan Poe Descendant For Sale In Greenspring Valley

A 900-bottle wine cellar, three-car garage and raven tiles are some of the highlights at this storied home in Owings Mills.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — A descendant of Edgar Allan Poe owned this 1927 mansion on Garrison Forest Road. It also was the 2018 Baltimore Symphony Designers' Show House, so local designers decorated its 28 rooms with fresh looks to raise money for the orchestra.

The home has a history tied to the arts. Edgar Allan Poe III owned the sprawling 12.9-acre property in Greenspring Valley, state property records show. When the great-great-great nephew of his literary namesake died in 2011, his wife put the property on the market, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Christina Zuray Poe sold the home in September 2017 for $1.01 million, according to state property records.

New owner Raphael Cassagnol told the newspaper he planned to sell the home after making some updates, such as adding a three-car garage and master suite. He also expanded the kitchen, installed a wheelchair-accessible elevator, added a gym space and removed the wallpaper that was present when Patch featured the home during its time on the market in 2017.

The house could be yours for $3.49 million.
