Local 5K Walk Offers a Good Kick in the Butt Towards Health

The Semi Colon 5k Crawl will take place at Owings Mills High School on Sept. 29.

On Sept. 29, the Owings Mills High School track will be aflutter with people committed to preventing, treating and curing colon cancer.

The Semi Colon Crawl is a 5k walk designed to raise funds to benefit the Semi Colon Club in their efforts to help increase outreach and awareness of colon cancer.

The event will take place on Sept. 29 at 9 a.m. at Owings Mills High School, 124 Tollgate Rd.

Two-time colon cancer survivor Edel Blumberg said he wants his story of beating cancer to become the story of other people dealing with cancer and chronic illness. He started the Semi Colon Crawl in 2010.

Blumberg said he has been plagued with Colitis,  Chrohn’s Disease and and Inflammatory Bowel Disorder since his teen years. This event is his way of helping to educate people that with check ups, treatment and a positive attitude, colon cancer can often be prevented or treated.
